 GMS Special Services

GMS has a variety of special services designed to help meet student’s needs.

The Special Education department employs two Inclusion Teachers per grade level, in addition to one Inclusion Paraprofessional.  We also have a Paraprofessional who moves throughout grade levels to work with students.  Inclusion personnel work in general education classrooms, offering assistance to special education students and all others who might need extra help with a concept.

Several Special Education teachers teach Resource classes in Reading, Writing, and Math to instruct students at their academic level.  These classes allow students to work in a small group setting on specific skills.

GMS also provides services for students who need to learn life skills.  Many of these students participate and are quite successful in the Special Olympics program.

The LEVELS room at GMS provides support for students who face behavioral or social challenges.  Some students may have an elective class in this setting to learn social skills.
